Description
The tour starts with a pick-up service from your hotel in Montevideo and continues to the neighborhoods of Capurro, Le Teja and the emblematic Cerro. Crossing the Santa Lucia River bridge, you will arrive in the department of San Jose, famous for being the largest producer of potatoes in the country. When you arrive in Colonia del Sacramento, discover the interesting history of the city dating back to 1783 when it was founded by Spanish immigrants. With your expert guide, you will visit the Real San Carlos, the bullring and the Rio de la Plata to admire panoramic views of the city and the surrounding area. From here, head to the city's historic district and stroll through the picturesque streets on a walking tour. Discover the Portón de Campo, as well as the city gate, the city walls, the famous Calle de Los Suspiros, the lighthouse and the main square and the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. After the walking tour, enjoy free time for lunch at a traditional restaurant or continue to explore the city on your own. Before returning to Montevideo, stop at Granja Arenas to visit the Museo de Coleccionismo where you can sample jams, cheeses and more products of the region.
