Description

Explore the famous Salar de Uyuni on a jeep tour from Uyuni. Stroll through the extensive salt flats, visit the abandoned trains in the train cemetery, see a hotel made entirely of salt and more along the way. Also enjoy a local lunch.

After being picked up at the hotel, head to the iconic train graveyard, where all the trains ended up once the local railroad company shut down. Walk in and out of abandoned rail cars, see surplus railroads and more.

Then, head to the village of Colchani on the outskirts of the salt flat. This small village survives by selling salt souvenirs and hand-woven textiles. The locals also extract salt and process it for consumption, a process you can observe.

Enter the salt flats and drive to the first salt hotel ever built. It no longer serves as a hotel, but it still stands proudly, with its crystalline white walls, tables and chairs, all made of salt.

Next, head to Incahuasi, or Isla del Pescado, where giant cacti grow up to 12 meters tall. Enjoy lunch here before attempting to take those iconic images of distance and size perception at the salt flats. Finally, return to Uyuni.
